Privacy Policy

Last updated: September 5, 2026

Job Agent helps you find and apply to jobs by discovering listings, matching them against your profile, and — with your permission — drafting and sending applications on your behalf. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, and the choices you have.

If you don't agree with this policy, please don't use Job Agent.

1. Information we collect

Account information

When you sign up, we collect your name, email address, and — if you sign in with Google or LinkedIn — the basic profile information those providers share with us (typically your name, and email).

Profile and job search information

Information you provide directly: your professional summary, work history, education, skills, job preferences, desired locations, salary expectations, phone number, and links (e.g. LinkedIn, portfolio).

Your CV/resume

If you upload a CV, we store the file itself and extract text from it to help pre-fill your profile and generate application materials. We never invent qualifications, experience, certifications, salary expectations, or work authorization that you haven't explicitly provided or that isn't present in your uploaded documents.

Gmail access (optional)

If you choose to connect Gmail as a sending method, we request send-only access (gmail.send scope). We do not request, and cannot use this permission to read, search, or otherwise access the contents of your inbox. This access is used solely to send job applications you've authorized, from your own address.

Gmail Limited Use compliance

Job Agent's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google user data only to provide and improve the user-facing features that you have authorized, including sending job application emails through your connected Gmail account. We do not use Google user data for advertising, sell it, or transfer it to third parties except as necessary to provide the requested functionality, comply with applicable law, or protect the security of the service.

Application and activity data

We keep a record of jobs discovered on your behalf, match scores and the reasons behind them, application status (e.g. matched, awaiting review, sent, failed), generated cover letters, and timestamps for each stage of the process — so you always have a full history of what the agent did.

Usage and device information

We use your browser's local storage to remember small preferences on your device — such as your light/dark theme choice and whether you've seen the app's intro screen. This information stays on your device and is not sent to our servers.

2. How we use your information

3. Who we share information with

We don't sell your personal information. We share information only with the service providers that help us run Job Agent, and with the employers you apply to (as expected, since that's the point of the service):

Each of these providers only receives the information necessary to perform their function and is bound by their own privacy and security obligations.

4. Data retention

We keep your account, profile, and application history for as long as your account is active, so the service can continue to work on your behalf and so you retain a complete record of past applications. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep certain records for legal or security reasons.

5. Your choices and rights

6. Security

We use industry-standard measures to protect your information, including encrypted connections, private storage for your CV with access only via short-lived signed URLs, and access controls on our infrastructure. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to limit access to what each part of the system genuinely needs.

7. Children's privacy

Job Agent is intended for job seekers who are old enough to legally work in their jurisdiction. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

8. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify you directly.
